Hello! My name is Olivia Bunz and I am a junior at Edgewood College. I am 20 years old and am the oldest of four children in my family. I am so excited to start working with the UNICH students. I love learning about, and interacting with, people of different cultures and really getting to experience their daily lives. I have an undying faith in peoples innate ability to be good. I am able to get along with almost every type of personality. When I put my mind to something, I become determined to get it done. I am not afraid to be uncomfortable, rather I enjoy it because I know I am learning more about myself and my surroundings. I am a very flexible person when it comes to plans and I love new adventures that each day brings. I really tend to be the "go to" girl and I can't wait to see how we're all going to be able to help each other and work together!

Hello my name is Jacqueline Diesch. I'm a sophomore at Edgewood College studying International Relations and a minor in Business. I'm also on the softball team here. My strengths are organization, getting things done on time, I am a good communicator, and very creative. I am an athlete, singer and songwriter. I like dancing, and generally I like to write. I'm a girl with a left brain creative side, something that involves creativity or color and the organization that I enjoy doing. I hope that regardless of the project we decided to do be able to help in the construction and organization part of it. Nothing is dull with a touch of Jackie to it. I keep things light but I do look forward to any project we decided!

My name is Steven George and I am 27 years old. I am from Kingsford, Michigan, which is located between Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. After graduating from high school I joined the United States Air Force, which I served for five years and am now attending Edgewood College in Madison Wisconsin. I am in my last year of college and am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Sociology. After graduation I plan on going back to school for a masters degree. One of my many interests is learning about different cultures. I love when I am able to then travel to those destinations and experience their culture first hand. I not only enjoy doing this but also find it very rewarding as well. Some of my hobbies are hunting, fishing, snowboard, and anything involving the outdoors. One of my strengths is that I am easygoing and am willing to do anything new; I feel that this is a good quality to have when traveling abroad. I hope that we have an educational and exciting semester working with each other.
My name is Andrew and I am a sophomore at Edgewood College, in Madison Wisconsin. I am 19 years old and I am originally from Redding, which is on the north peak of California. I can’t wait to get started on our journey together and to back to the people of Chiapas. There are a lot of things I can bring to the group, from my physically abilities, to my keen interest in changing something in Chiapas. I am able to lead, communicate, and come up with ideas to help out the group as a whole. I am a very friendly laid back guy, however, I am also very driven and will do almost anything to make the group better. Adventuring and exploring different cultures and countries is very important to me, but helping people and societies altogether is my main goal in this project. I bring to our class a helpful leadership type, able to complete things physically and mentally and also have the force to finish whatever project we decide to embark upon.
Hi my name is Vicky Mikelsen and I am 19 years old. I'm from Argentina, but my family moved to the United States when I was 6 years old. I can speak Spanish and English. My name is Taylor Skenandore and I am a sophomore at Edgewood College this year. I am 19 years old and I grew up in a town called Sun Prairie , outside of Madison, here in Wisconsin. I am excited for this semester and I can not wait to establish and build relationships with everyone involved in UNICH . One of my strengths is that I am very friendly and I have a good sense of humor, so I can usually get along with everyone . I like to always try to keep a positive attitude and work together on things like equipment. I love being a leader in a subtle sort of way . One of my talents is being able to connect with people so that they feel like they can talk to be about anything, anywhere and at any time. In recent years , my interest in Mexico has grown incredibly and I have personal connections with the country also . Jump in every learning opportunity and I love that we will work together to help give your community with what could be!
Nice to meet you !
Nice to meet you !
Hi. My name is Andrew J. Shuck. I am excited to be part of this class and opportunity to travel to Mexico. I am interested in being a part of this project because of the unique opportunity to work with local college students in Mexico and to travel to Mexico and see our pre-planned project come to life. I am confident that I will be an asset to the project because of my past experiences, different perspective, and unique outlook. I am a natural leader, organizer, am passionate about helping those in need, and I’m looking forward to working hard, having fun, and making a difference.
Hi, my name is Ousia. I am 20, in my 3rd year of college. I am persuing two majors, Spanish and Critical Identity Studies (a combination of critical race studies, postcolonial studies, gender studies), at Beloit college in Southern Wisconsin, but I am currently completing my second semester abroad in the beautiful port city Valparaíso, Chile. My mother, Julie Whitaker, is teaching this class, and I will be participating in the visit to Chiapas. I lived with her in Xalapa, Veracruz in 2006 and 2007, and feel a strong connection to México and Latin America for many reasons; after college I hope to support immigrant and workers´ rights by fighting border militarization, racism, and ignorance in the US. I am a curious, outgoing person very excited to get to know Chiapas and some of its people for the first time. From everything I have heard, it is both an incredibly beautiful and deeply interesting place, in terms of culture, history, art. I look forward to meeting you in January!
